What can cause wounds ?
Wounds can be caused by
- Physical factors : trauma (shoe bite, tight fitting clothes , webspace injury due to toe divider in slipper etc), surgical incisions , pressure (Bedsores etc)
- Temperature : Burns , frostbite , trench foot
- Chemical burns : acids/alkalis which can also cause temperature related injury apart from chemical trauma
- Radiation burns , radiation sickness : Exposure to radiation either accidentally or therapeutically (radiotherapy can cause skin damage and chronic wounds)
- Infections : a pustule (boil) may spread especially in patients at risk, and lead to major wounds
